Elim 100

Scottish Centenary Celebration

Beginning in Ireland in 1915 under the leadership of evangelist George Jeffreys, Elim was birthed as a dynamic Pentecostal movement dedicated to pioneer evangelism, church planting and Holy Spirit ministry.

One hundred years later, Elim has hundreds of churches in cities, towns and communities throughout the UK and works in over 40 countries around the world. At the heart of Elim, there are thousands of ordinary people serving God in extraordinary ways.

2015 is Elim’s centenary year and we are calling the Elim movement to a moment – or a series of moments where we can unite together as a family to:

CELEBRATE: Celebrate what God has done through the past 100 years
CONSECRATE: Consecrate and seek Him afresh for our own lives and for our churches
COMMIT: Commit to Spirit empowered mission and ministry for the years to come

To celebrate 100 years of Elim, Elim Sound have recorded a new album called ELIM 100, scheduled for release in May, prior to the Leaders Summit in Harrogate.
A key function of Elim Sound is bringing together communities of worship leaders, pastors and creatives from the Elim movement and beyond, inspiring, encouraging and equipping the church in worship. So for this album, nine Elim worship leaders from across the nation formed a worship collective, along with a variety of musicians.

Recording the album

The concept of the album follows the theme for the Elim centenary year of honouring the past, while embracing the future, and the tracks comprise of popular Elim hymns and 9 new worship songs.

New songs on the album include “No Longer I” co-written with Matt Redman, the centenary anthem “Best Is Yet to Come”, “Lay It At Your Feet,” and a cover of Jared Anderson’s “The Great I Am.”

Popular hymns and songs chosen for the album include “Power in the Blood”, “Have Thine Own Way” and “Breathe On Me”, which have received new arrangements, while keeping their original essence and powerful lyrics.

Elim Sound, which is led by Sam Blake, Stephen Gibson, Joel Pridmore, and Ian Yates, have a rich heritage than spans a century and are the product of the collective skill and passion of members of a new generation currently emerging within the UK’s Elim Pentecostal Churches.

The group not only aims to inspire, encourage and equip the church in worship, but also to highlight the different skill sets and passionate beliefs of the new generation.

DEFINING MOMENTS

100 years of the Elim Pentecostal Church

Defining Moments tells the story of the Elim Pentecostal Church, from its beginnings in 1915 as Welsh evangelist George Jeffreys and a committed band of young men and women determined to reach Ireland with the gospel, to the formation of a Pentecostal movement of churches and ministries which swept the towns and cities of the British Isles.
With little or no advertising they soon filled the largest halls in the nation and their preaching was accompanied by amazing and documented miracles of healing.

From those humble beginnings, God used Elim’s early pioneers to light the touch-paper for successive generations to believe God for a move of His Spirit which would see thousands come to faith in Christ and experience the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in their own lives.

Defining Moments of Elim History

In a rich collection of words and images, this is a story of Elim:

A Pentecostal denomination forged one hundred years ago in the furnace of revival and Holy Spirit outpouring.
A church planting and pioneering movement with move than 600 churches in cities, towns and rural communities across the UK.
A growing global network of some 9,000 churches and ministries partnering together to reach nations for Christ.
It is more than the story of one man, however gifted – and it is more than a story from history. It is above all a continuing story, of changed lives and changed communities, being written by thousands of Elim people who continue to believe in the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit for this generation and for the generations to come.
